1. EUROPEAN TRAINING OF INDIAN EXECUTIVES

2. INDIAN TRAINING OF EUROPEAN EXECUTIVES

EUROPEAN TRAINING PACKAGES FOR INDIAN EXECUTIVES OBJECTIVE

In order to bridge the Euro-Indian cultural gap, The EuroIndia Centre has conceived a unique European training programme for Indian executives. It incorporates the specific needs and concerns of Indian businesses and executives:

Need to focus on continental Europe as a diverse entity Time constraints to acquire a European survival kit or an intensive expatriate training Understanding of Europe by analogy with Indian conditions A congenial learning programme in friendly surroundings A combination of European and Indian experts Familiarisation with European foods, habits and customs without upsetting personal habits and customs

It aims at preparing Indian executives to get a practical grasp of Europe, as a political and economic entity and of its societies, cultures, business practices, legal systems and regulatory environments, in order to facilitate dealing with Europeans and integration in the European context.

The present training program has been divided into two different and complementary packages: a group familiarisation with Europe and an individual familiarisation with specific countries of Europe that can delivered with varying degree of depth, intensity and duration.

PACKAGE I

Module 3 - European cultures and societies:

This module aims at providing the necessary tools to understand Europe’s cultural and social diversity and efficiently deal with it. Countries such as Italy, France, Germany, Spain, which are likely to be the largest potential markets for Indian business require a thorough country-specific understanding, as opposed, for instance, to Benelux and Scandinavian countries which are already fairly open to foreign companies, will be extensively dealt with.

This module would cover issues such as:

Lifestyle Ways of thinking How language fashions culture and society European values and perception of religion and divinity Concept of family, marriage and live-in relationships Gender studies Attitude towards ethnic minorities Society, etiquette, relationships and friends Understanding and acceptance of the European ways of life. Regional identities and affinities within countries Eating habits Holidays, leisure, travel and sports Living in Europe with one’s family

PACKAGE II

INDIVIDUAL FAMILIARISATION WITH SPECIFIC EUROPEAN COUNTRIES Emphasis will be laid on individual familiarisation with a particular European country through its language and culture. This package would enable the executive trainee to immerse in a different culture while learning the language , in the country of his/her choice where our partners Eurocentres have training establishments : Germany, France, Spain or Italy.

Depending on requirements, available time and motivation, this module can be adapted in terms of objectives, content, intensity and duration.

1) Condensed option: Language and Culture

It aims at giving the trainee a survival kit in a roaming approach of Europe or of a specific country through a general language programme and a culture-familiarisation programme consisting of 4 lessons per week on cultural and social aspects

Duration: preferably 2 weeks minimum per country;

2) Expanded option: Intensive language course

It aims at giving the trainee the ability to stay and work in the country through an accelerated language course of optimum intensity, which still leaves the afternoon free to enjoy living the language and getting to know the locals. To facilitate complete immersion, accommodation could be organised with a host family.

Duration: 2-36 weeks; 25x50 minutes’ lessons per week plus self-study in the learning centre.
