I. The EuroIndia Centre
The EuroIndia Centre (www.the-euroindia-centre.org), a not-for-profit organization registered in La Rochelle,
France, was founded by Dr. Manmohan Singh, Honorable Prime Minister of India and former Prime Minister of
France, late Mr. Raymond Barre in 2001. The key aim of the Centre is to promote cooperation between Indian
and European civic bodies, business enterprises, academic and research organizations, eminent professionals
and civil societies.
The acronym ‘Flying a Green KITE’ signifies the objectives of the Centre: promotion of Green technologies;
Knowledge related R & D exchanges in realty, housing and city infrastructure; Investments; Tourism and
culture; and Excellence in Urban Governance at the level of cities and regions in India and Europe.
II. Mission and Summit
The EuroIndia Centre and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) are organizing an Urban Interactive
Mission to Brussels, Leuven (Belgian Flanders), Lille (French Flanders) and Paris from 3rd to 9th October, 2010
followed by a EuroIndia Summit in Halle (Germany) on “City Vision: Re-inventing Dynamic and Sustainable
Cities” from 10th to 12th October, 2010.
The Mission offers an exciting opportunity for high level interaction between Indian and European Civic leaders,
Senior Government Officers, CEOs of business enterprises, representatives of academic and research
institutions and eminent professionals in the spheres of:
- Urban Planning, Design and Heritage Conservation,
- Real Estate Development,
- Fulfilling Energy needs of Cities with emphasis on renewable energy sources & energy conservation &
- Mass-Rapid Public Transportation Systems.
The Summit on “Re-inventing Dynamic and Sustainable Cities” will focus on the Mission themes with
emphasis on:
- Re-inventing historical Cities through Urban Planning & Heritage Conservation,
- Understanding versatile Public-Private-Partnership Models for attracting financial and high quality
human resources,
- Realty development & technology relating to Construction Materials and Techniques,
- Green and energy efficient Cities,
- Healthy and Safe Cities &
- Transport friendly Cities.
The EuroIndia Summit will also witness the launching of the Environmental Sustainability City Award
(ESCA). The ESCA will be awarded to:
- One City each in India and Europe &
- Will recognize the support provided to both the Cities by a leading private partner whether it is a
Business Enterprise, R & D Institution or NGO.
