On 2-3 of Jan 2012,
EIC Secretary General was invited by Mrs Jolanta Barska, Mayor of Nysa (Poland) to investigate the city's cooperation potential with India, in view of their contemplated participation in the 6th EuroIndia Summit in India.
Mr Andrzej Porawski, General Manager of the Polish Cities Union, has invited the EIC S.G. to present the next EuroIndia Summit to interested Polish cities at their Poznan H.O. in Spring.

Summit participants have been offered
to advertize their profile and expectations
ahead of the Summit through the newly created Member-only area of our Web Portal. We shall now offer
an enhanced matching service from 1st January
exclusively to our members, whereby we shall proactively look for a suitable match and leverage our network of expert partners in India and Europe. The Member Area also has
a library featuring all presentations
made at the last three Summits.
After the 1st of January, watch out for a new forum on our portal
created at the behest of two members: Madhana Ratnavel and Anthony Boanada Fuchs to enable Summit participants to continue their dialogue on Summit themes on-line 24/7, which all interested Euro-Indian parties may join.
The Indian delegation visited two leading European centres in nano technology:
On 7 October, with
MINATEC in Grenoble and on 14 with IMEC in Leuven, also Summit co-organizer.
Philips, EGIS, The Indus Enterpreneurs, Veolia Environnement sponsored the Mission and Summit.
Schneider Electric sponsored the Mission. The Mission was hosted by Schneider in Grenoble, EGIS in Paris and Philips in Eindhoven.
13 October:
Urban development Minister Kamal Nath awarded The first Environmentally Sustainable City Award to Vijyawada (Andhra Pradesh) and Mysore (Karnataka) at the 5th EuroIndia Summit at Leuven. Ajmer, Bangalore, Raipur, Visakhapatnam have also been felicitated for their environmental achievements. 29 Indian cities applied for the ESCA.

12 October:
Indian Urban Development Minister, Kamal Nath, addressed the 92th Plenary Session of the Comittee of the Regions of the European Union at Brussels, the first non-European to do so. He had been invited by Mrs Mercedes Bresso, President of the Comittee.
10 October:
The Mission attended
the inaugural function of Open Days
at the European Parliament.
6 October: Services Industriels de Genève (SIG) welcomed the Indian delegation
on their utility site where effluent and solid waste is treated and hydro and photovoltaic power produced and then at their H.Q., where Dr. Kalyanasundaram of Ecole Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) introduced their latest photovoltaic research and Christophe Nutall, Director, Hub for Innovative Partnerships, introduced the "R20 Regions for Climate Action".
26-28 September 2011:
The EAST (Euro-Asia Sustainable Towns) project. Project leader, European New Towns and Pilot Cities (ENTP) organized a visit of project partners to Raipur. Board Member Professor Isabelle Milbert of I.U.E.D Geneva represented the EuroIndia Centre.

Nysa's School of Higher Vocational Education was introduced to the EIC S.G.. Noteworthy are their Building Renovation and Art Conservation, Nursing, Cosmetology, Architecture and Planning departments.
The
first-ever official meeting between European and Indian City heads
was held at Brussels under the joint aegis of President Mercedes Bresso and Minister Kamal Nath.

3 Open Days workshops
on "Smart, sustainable and inclusive growth - EU Capital Cities and Regions showing the way" organized by Capital Cities and Regions Network (CCRN), "Enabling the delivery of an ICT enabled, economically and environmentally sustainable future for Europe" organized by The European Regional Information Society Association and "EPEC: The European PPP Expertise Centre" organized by The European PPP Expertise Centre (EPEC).
Minister Kamal Nath addressed Business Europe,
at the invitation of Philippe de Buck, Director General. EPTISA of Spain and BASF of Germany represented corporate Europe. Mr. Reddy of Sri City represented corporate India.
13-14 October: The 6th EuroIndia Summit at Leuven
It was opened by Louis Tobback, Mayor of Leuven, Carl Devlies, State Secretary, Govt of Belgium, Prof. Dr. Mark Waer, Rector, K.U.Leuven, Adi Godrej, President Designate, CII and Chairman, Godrej Group, Mercedes Bresso, President, Committee of the Regions of the European Union, Kamal Nath, Minister of Urban Development, Government of India, and our two co-Presidents, Colette Mathur and Dr. Harjit Singh Anand. It was
attended by 140 participants out of which 40 from India,
a quantum jump from the last Summit.
20 European cities from 10 different States were represented:
Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, Poland, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
14 Indian cities from 11 States were represented:
Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, New-Delhi, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and West-Bengal.
The Summit was
supported in Europe by 9 civic organizations and 10 corporate organizations.
India supported the Summit through the
Urban Development Ministry and CII.
Minister Kamal Nath awarded

28 November:
The Secretary General embarked upon
a tour of Europe to consolidate our collaboration with Summit partners
in view of the next Summit in India. They conveyed their appreciation of the Mission and Summit and confirmed their interested in supporting the next event in India.
20 October:
Artist B2Fays made a successful demonstration of the pilot installation of her
"Via presence"
project at the National Centre for Choreography of La Rochelle, the software development of which has been supported by Poitou - Charentes Region and the EuroIndia Centre.
A full-fledged installation is scheduled at Hyderabad on 15-25 December at Kalakriti Art Gallery.
31 October-12 November:
The two Co-Presidents undertook
visits in Delhi and Mumbai to assess the feed back of key Indian supporters of the Leuven Summit
and start investigations for the 6th summit, to be held in India. All meetings confirmed the importance of such an event promoting the sustainable development of cities in India and in Europe.
Minister Kamal Nath indicated his interest to open the 6th summit in India.
Director General of Partner CII pledged a reinforced partnership and Adi Godrej, President Designate, his participation.
Mrs. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister of Delhi, will host the European Summit delegation.
B2Fays made a successful demonstration of the pilot installation of her "Via presence" project in La Rochelle on 20th of October 2011, which is supported by Poitou-Charentes Region.

India's export growth has been slowing amidst the global turmoil and the weakening demand from its traditional markets -USA and Europe- which are struggling to stave off an economic crisis.
Cumulative value of exports for the period April-September 2011 -12 was US $ 160048.51 million ) as against US $ 105240.82 million registering a growth of 52.08 per cent in Dollar terms and 49.26 per cent in Rupee terms over the same period last year...
