    2-3 January 2012: S.G. was invited by Mrs. Jolanta Barska, Mayor of Nysa (Poland), who attended previous EuroIndia Summits, to appraise the potential of the city and its region of Opole for a fruitful cooperation with India. Special Economic Zones, the State Higher Vocational Training School, heritage buildings and tourist sites have been covered and discussions held with their main political, economic and academic stakeholders. An Indian action plan and Nysa's Partner Membership have also been discussed.

    Besides, Andrej Porawski, Director of the Association of Polish cities invited the S.G. to present the next EuroIndia Summit before interested Polish cities at their H.O. in Poznan in Spring.

    28 January-17 February: S.G. completed a post Summit appraisal tour of India and got as positive a feedback from India-based participants, supporters, sponsors and members, as he did from their Europe-based counterparts in November-December 2011 with newly appointed Swati Barve Kirtane in charge of our European network.

    6 February: Summit participating officials of Karnataka State confirmed their eagerness to expand their promising cooperation with the Centre. The Chief Secretary of the State has been offered to become the first Partner Member State of the Centre.

    7 February: S.G. was given a rousing traditional welcome by Mayor and Summit participant Commissioner on his official visit to ESCA awardee Mysore, which pledged to join the Centre as Partner Member to continue the good work started at the Summit.

    8 February: When visited by S.G., Summit Participant Bangalore Principal Commissioner declared he is in favour of the City's Partner Membership of the Centre.

    The Confederation of Indian Industry, the Centre's Indian Partner, pledged to co-organize the 6th EuroIndia Summit in India on the theme of Green Cities and Townships. Noteworthy is the Green Tech Fair that we plan to organize along the Summit debate, so that civic, corporate, academic, scientific and professional experts from Europe share their expertise in the field with potential Indian partners and vice versa.

    The European Business & Technology Centre, co-funded by the European Commission and coordinated by EuroChambers, with its H.O. in Delhi and offices in Bangalore, Mumbai and Kolkata has contributed to the first concept note of the next EuroIndia Summit, along with the CII. Its mission is to assist the business, science & research community - in Europe and India - to work together towards generating new business opportunities in clean technology transfer & establishing business relevant cooperation in the field of research, science and technology.

    17 Feb 2012: S.G. called on Ahmedabad and Gujarat State authorities. Ahmedabad Mayor and Commissioner have shown interest in deepening the relationship. So has I.P. Gautam, new Special Secretary to the State for Urban Development for all large cities of the State. The State has been offered to become the first Indian State Partner Member of the Centre.

    S.G. was invited to visit the new Centre for Heritage Management of the Ahmedabad University, headed by Member Debashish Nayak. It is the first of its kind in India, born out of the vision of then Ahmedabad Commissioner, I.P. Gautam, and his 2008 visit in Europe, the first Indian mission to be stewarded by the Centre that led to the signature of two M.O.U. with EIC member cities Valladolid and La Rochelle to provide technical support for heritage conservation.

    Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Sons, and Deepak Parekh, Chairman of Housing Development Finance Corporation, Emeritus founding Members of the Centre, have pledged their renewed support to the Centre on the occasion of its 10th anniversary. They have been offered to sponsor the Environmentally Sustainable City Award. So have several leading European and Indian companies.

    22-23 March: The Centre was invited to the 5th Summit of Regions and Cities in Copenhagen on "The European urban fabric in the 21st century". It addressed questions related to urban dynamics and European governance and the role of regions and cities in tackling climate change. It was a unique occasion to interact with authorities of cities and regions of all 27 countries of the European Union and some of their high level guests and introduce the Centre and its next Summit in India.     On this occasion the Committee of the Regions confirmed its full support to our next Summit.

    All 30 Indian cities that applied for the Environmentally Sustainable City Award have been invited to join the Centre as Partner Member. So have 10 States of India that sent official delegations to our five Fora and Summits and our five Indian missions to Europe between 2007 and 2011.

    25-28 March: Board Member Prof. Isabelle Milbert of the Institut Universitaire d'Etude du Développement Geneva) took part on behalf of the Centre, an EAST Project Partner, in high-level international forum on urbanization of China and in the Euro-Asia Sustainable Town Project study seminar in Baoshan district - Shanghai (China). The latter's theme was on "Urbanization and sustainable development" with three sub-themes:
    1. Social integration of migrant workers;
    2. Development and planning of small and medium cities;
    3. Development of green urbanism
