Aims and Objectives of the Spain-India Council Foundation

The Spain-India Council Foundation is being developed within the general framework of the group of Council Foundations promoted and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation with the aim of promoting and strengthening bilateral relations with foreign countries (in this case India), considered to be fundamental to the general scheme of priorities within Spanish foreign policy towards Asia and the Pacific.

The aim is to bring together the efforts being made across a wide variety of sectors in Spain in a single platform of civil society in order to promote common interests and wishes, and to address concerns related to spheres of activities aimed at India.

The entities promoting this initiative believe that this kind of activity is sure to provide a boost for these interests at a time when India is considered to be one of the most important emerging countries in the world during these first years of the 21st century.

The Spain-India Council Foundation will participate in high-level contacts and actions of the highest importance designed by the Government to promote bilateral relations. These will include the state visits due to take place over the coming months, investment forums and business meetings sponsored by the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) and business organizations, cultural and educational activities, the launch of an Instituto Cervantes in New Delhi, and the development of exchange programs in fields such as science and technology, art. gastronomy, law, and cinema.

The Foundation will also promote initiatives, contacts, and actions that are considered to be a priority by its Trustees, who will represent a wide range of both public and private activities. This will require a coordinated and coherent approach, as well as the joint efforts and the motivation of all parties concerned.

The Foundation's members will include representatives of central, autonomous, and local government, whose job will be to support the work of the Foundation while promoting their own initiatives to be developed within this general framework of action.
