The Keynote Speaker was Ms Kate Barker, member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of
England and author of the UK Government Housing Supply and Land-Use Planning Reviews. The keynote address was
followed by two thought-provoking presentations on the Mumbai experience: one by Mr Jaithirth Rao, Chairman, Value
and Budget Housing Corporation and the other by Mr Nasser Munjee, Chairman, Development Credit Bank Ltd. Ms
Patricia Clarke Annez, Research Director, Making Cities Work for Growth Project and Non-Resident Fellow, Brookings
Institution made the closing remarks The lecture was followed by a Roundtable discussion the next day. Key officials
connected with the development of rental housing in Mumbai, and also dealing with cessed buildings and cluster
developments, took part.
