Dear Member, Reader
|
|
The impending EuroIndia Forum at Goa will have a session dedicated to green houses. Why can't the Centre be a green house itself, where seeds of imagination can grow?
One such seed will be sown on the afternoon of 7th April at Delhi. The new event promises to grow as big as the urban-focused Forum of Goa that will conclude on the morning of the same day with the public presentation of its conclusions.

These twin events will enable Forum Partner-Cities to market themselves to Indian tourists through Indian travel operators that the Confederation of Indian Industry, the Forum Associate Partner, will carefully select out of its own members. Cities like Halle of Germany, Valladolid of Spain and La Rochelle of France could thus get a share of the large and booming market of Indian overseas tourists. Positioning these cities on the mental map of India should hopefully also eventually translate into various opportunities for exchange in other fields.
Two of these fields-knowledge and inward investment-are intended to be tapped in a subsequent Forum. India is known to offer the World excellent students, academics, researchers, software and other engineers, besides offshore investments by the newly emerging global Indian enterprises. Why not to European cities?
Yet how many cities of Europe have taken steps to attract such high valued Indian inputs which could prove so crucial for their economic development and international standing? Barring a few metropolises, none has really tried. How many medium-sized cities are equipped to address the daunting Indian continent on their own? However, can the Mayor of a major European city who has the future of his/her city at heart afford to miss out on such Indian opportunities?
By providing a platform whereby Indian cities can imbibe state-of-the-art urban management expertise available with European cities, while allowing the latter to reap an Indian harvest in tourism, knowledge and inward investment, we are confident to bring about a very novel win-win business model that cannot but provide momentum to the growth of Euro-Indian co-operation and bring our civil societies in closer touch.
We count on you to provide the desired impetus to these twin events. See you in Goa on the 3rd-5th of April in Goa and in Delhi on the 7th!
